Today studio is a talk about the BIG and how APEX going to lead to 2012 by Cik Wan. Before this, Cik Wan want us to read everything in http://www.hbp.usm.my/1b/buluh~~ After that we have to think 1 question about the things relate to this BIG discussion. This website tell me a lot of advantages by using bamboo. Amazing~~

The reason we use bamboo:

1. Stronger choice to built and environment friendly future
2. Incredible strength (3 times stronger than steel)
3. Most sustainable resource.
4. Help in poverty
5. Survived the atomic bomb
6. reverses the effect of global warming

And yet bamboo satisfy the 7 point of TERAS APEX:

1. The future
2. Uniqueness
3. Sustainability
4. Humanity
5. Universality
6. Change
7. Sacrifice

So after the talk, some professions and students ask question.
1) What will be the challenges we expected to face or will be facing?

• We do not have any sponsor, and yet that is not a challenge to stop us. Another thing is, we have to machine to harvest it so people are difficult to harvest it because of the old clumps are surrounded by the new shoot.

2) How many bamboo do we have? Is that enough for all of us?

• That is at least 10% or more in our jungle is bamboo area. The bamboo we used was not preserved unlike UNIMAS, they preserved the bamboo by using palm oil. Therefore, we cannot predict the life span of bamboo will enough for us or not. We just do what we can~

3) How long does bamboo take to grow or to it's mature?

• Bamboo is grass family, it grows very fast. They are possible to grow up 1 meter per day. The mature clump just depend on what we wan to use for.

4) How will this project contribute to APEX?

• We cannot always take anyone as a model, therefore we will be behind the model. We should start to be a model so that other follow us and stay behind us. So we want to lead ahead of the other and create new things that other didn't do.

5) What if earthquake or tornado happen in 2012 other than flood?

• South Africa building with bamboo to prevent earthquake. We are just take one of the assumption. We all need help from other too, we does not expect it to happen, thanks god, of it does not happen, then just settle 1 by 1. Our curriculum is road learning.

6) Potensi buluh bermacam-macam. Adakah potensi buluh dapat menjana tenaga daripada air?

• Geothermal? Time has change, just do what we have to do... If you are interested, go and study it how it to be done.

7) How long was the bamboo life span?

• We do need research, because we still have no idea, different climates different life span. So just depend on preserved or not preserved.

8) Bamboo is widely used in construction. How do bamboo play its parts in medicine?

• Some professional said epilepsy (gila babi) can be cure by using bamboo.

After this all, the discussion is end. During the Q&A session, I keep telling my friends, " hey you all listen to Cik Wan or not? He can respond all questions quickly with a very good answers." So I feel happy can be student of Cik Wan cause of his awesome of knowledges...
